Today, in our whole school assembly in the Junior school, we learnt about HMS Windrush and the Windrush generation. Children were interested to hear how the UK Government invited people from the Caribbean to help rebuild the country after the Second World War and the first journey that took place in 1948. We discussed how the people from the Caribbean might have felt on that journey and on arrival in the UK and how they were welcomed.
