Good news everyone!
Ardleigh Green Junior School has been recognised as a Music Mark School. Music Mark are a Music Subject Association, so receiving this award shows the value we place on Music in our school. This has been given to us through our longstanding relationship with Havering Music School, who provide peripatetic music lessons to our students. We are lucky to have been awarded this Music Mark every year since 2019.
As Musician In Residence here at Ardleigh Green I am immensely proud of our pupils. The quality of the singing in our Friday Singing Assembly is the highlight of my week, and I am certain other members of staff would agree. Our 'Ardleigh A Songbook' contains over fifty original songs and they are sung with such gusto in every assembly, alongside our weekly music lessons where we explore the elements of music through the practical application of core concepts. If we're learning about being loud, it's time to get loud!
The opportunity as a composer to write new music for the young people of Havering is something I am incredibly passionate about. Having the freedom within my role at Ardleigh Green Junior School to write new songs and create new compositions to explain how music works is incredibly unique and bespoke to our school. Our set of assembly songs truly reflect the values and culture we create, capturing the vision and ethos of our school community. When ex-students visit our school they still sing 'Hello Mr Linham' to me!
Our latest new songs are the original songs for our production of 'Cinderella', this year's annual Christmas Pantomime, which I can't wait for you to hear!
Congratulations to the fabulous students of Ardleigh Green Junior School, I know that we certainly are proud to be a Music Mark School.
