Our Year 2 and Year 6 Ambassadors were very lucky to be invited to the Town Hall today to meet the Mayor!
We were very fortunate to be shown around the chamber and we got to see where all the important decisions about Havering are made. We also learned about the history of the building, the significance of the mace and also how Madam Mayor was elected into her position. It sounded very similar to our own election process for the position of School Ambassador!
After asking lots of questions, the children were rewarded with drinks and snacks before they each had a turn at holding the extremely heavy mace - something we are told very few people are allowed to do! As always, the children were beautifully behaved and very polite. They are a real credit to their school and their families.
