We are incredibly proud to announce that Ardleigh Green Junior School has been awarded the OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) Platinum Award, the highest possible level of accreditation within the OPAL Primary Programme.
This prestigious award recognises our school’s outstanding commitment to providing high-quality outdoor play opportunities that support children’s physical health, emotional wellbeing, social development and learning. Achieving Platinum status places Ardleigh Green among a small number of schools nationally that demonstrate exceptional practice in play provision.
The OPAL Primary Programme is a nationally recognised, award-winning initiative that helps schools improve the quality of play for all pupils. Following a rigorous two-year process, including self-evaluation, staff training, policy development and a formal school assessment, our school has been judged to have embedded play at the heart of school life.
The assessor praised:
-
The inclusive and imaginative use of the outdoor environment
-
The strong commitment of staff and leadership to children’s right to play
-
The positive impact on pupils’ confidence, cooperation and wellbeing
This achievement reflects the dedication of our whole school community. We would like to thank our staff, pupils, parents, governors and supporters for embracing the OPAL approach and helping to create a rich, stimulating and inclusive play culture for all our children.
We are delighted with this recognition and remain committed to continually developing our outdoor provision so that play remains a powerful, valued and joyful part of every child’s school experience.
